Race Against Time

If we are talking about how important time is, well, everyone will agree with it. From the moment we wake up in the morning, until we go back to sleep, we organize time carefully. We wake up at 5 in the morning to get ready for school or work. From 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. we spend our day out there, building connection with new people or with our friends. Trying to expand our relationships with many people. When we get home, sometimes we still have to do something else, like clean up the house or others. We do that almost everyday in this 24 hours.

When we were child, we felt time went slowly. We went to school in the morning and got home in the afternoon. At the moment, there wasn't many tasks we had to do, just study and play. When we were at college, we started to feel how important time is. We woke up in the morning, preparing to go to college. We spent our day at the college from morning until evening around 5 p.m. Not to mention if there was a committee event, that we had to meet. It usually began around 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. After that we went home tiredly. Maybe we had to do some homeworks for tomorrow or the day after tomorrow and we did it until we graduated.

After we graduated, we face the real world, working. We meet so many people, different type of people. Our close friends are now busy with their things. We meet each other lesser and lesser. We work from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. If the distance from our house to our workplace is quite far enough, it will take longer time on the road, either when leaving for work or home from work. We do it 5 days a week. Even there are some people who have to work on Saturday or Sunday.

If we look at all this, how little time we have in one day. For example, if we were given a money from bank of 86.400 USD, how will we spend that money? Do we just keep it or we use it wisely? Of course we will use it wisely. We won't waste all of it. In one day, we are given time of 86.400 seconds. It's the same questions, are we going to waste it or use it as best as possible?

I'll quote some words from Jay Shetty. He is one of the people who makes me appreciate life more. His words are very inspiring, such as "...If you wanna know the value of a second, speak to the person who just won silver at the Olympics. If you wanna know the value of a minute, speak to the person who was late for a bus, train or plane. If you wanna know the value of an hour, speak to someone who was just late for an interview. If you wanna know the value of a week, speak to someone who is the editor of an online magazine. If you wanna know the value of a month, speak to someone who has been separated from someone they love. And if you wanna know the value of a year, speak to someone who just failed their last year at University or College."

So, for conclusion, we shouldn't think that we always have time. We never know what will happen, even in the next 10 seconds. Therefore, always do your best.
